The story behind the shirt

Borussia Dortmund wore this shirt over two strong seasons. In the 2020/21 season under coach Edin Terzić, BVB finished third in the Bundesliga with 64 points. Erling Haaland was the outstanding goalscorer with 27 goals, supported by Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus with 8 goals each. Sancho also contributed 11 assists, Raphaël Guerreiro 10. Dortmund impressed with big wins such as the 4:0 against Freiburg and the 4:0 away against Schalke. In the DFB Cup, BVB won the final against RB Leipzig 4:1 and beat Holstein Kiel 5:0 in the semi-final. In the Champions League, Dortmund were eliminated in the quarter-final against Manchester City. In the 2021/22 season, BVB improved to 69 points and second place. Haaland scored 22 league goals, Jude Bellingham impressed with 8 assists, Marco Reus with 12. Emphatic wins such as the 6:0 against Mönchengladbach and the 6:1 against Wolfsburg underlined their attacking strength, while in the Champions League they finished third in the group.
