    With this special shirt from Borussia Dortmund, the club created a monument to mark its 110-year anniversary in 2019, one that remains a unique collector's item to this day. Limited to 9009 pieces, the "Kohle & Stahl" (Coal & Steel) special shirt commemorates the history of both the city of Dortmund and BVB. Known as the "city of coal, iron and beer", Dortmund's first coal mine already existed back in 1296. This proud history was captured and immortalised with the Coal & Steel shirt. This particular shirt is number 1631 of 9009. Apart from the nameset, it is entirely black in reference to the colour of coal, and it was worn in just a single match, in Dortmund against Fortuna Düsseldorf on 7 December 2019. The shirt is brand new, unworn, and still has the original Puma tags as well as the original box it was delivered in at the time. It carries the nameset of Marco Reus.

      The story behind the shirt

      Borussia Dortmund finished the 2019-20 season as Bundesliga runners-up with 69 points from 34 games. Jadon Sancho was the outstanding force in attack with 17 goals and 16 assists, supported by Erling Haaland (13 goals) and Marco Reus (11 goals). Highlights included 5:0 wins against Fortuna Düsseldorf and Union Berlin, as well as the Supercup triumph with a 2:0 win against Bayern Munich. In the Champions League, BVB reached the quarter-finals, where Paris Saint-Germain denied them progress with a 0:2 away defeat after a 2:1 first-leg win. A shirt from this season represents one of the most spectacular BVB attacks in the club's recent history.
