VfL Wolfsburg beendete die Bundesliga-Saison 2014–15 mit 69 Punkten auf Platz 2 und erzielte 72 Tore. Bas Dost traf 16-mal, Kevin De Bruyne prägte das Spiel mit seiner Kreativität. Beeindruckende Siege wie das 4:1 gegen Bayer Leverkusen und das 4:1 gegen Bayern München unterstrichen die Klasse dieser Mannschaft. Den Höhepunkt bildete der DFB-Pokal-Triumph mit einem 3:1-Finalsieg gegen Borussia Dortmund. In der Europa League schied Wolfsburg erst im Viertelfinale gegen Napoli aus. Ein Trikot dieser Saison steht für eine der stärksten Wolfsburger Spielzeiten der Vereinsgeschichte.
