The story behind the shirt

Getragen in der Spielzeit, in der Manchester City in der Premier League den dritten Platz belegte. Aus 38 Spielen holten die Citizens 21 Siege, acht Remis und neun Niederlagen für insgesamt 71 Punkte. Erneut bester Torschütze wurde ein Spieler mit 22 Toren, gefolgt von zwei Spielern mit je sieben Treffern. Ein Akteur führte die Assist-Statistik mit acht Vorlagen an, ein weiterer steuerte sieben bei. Besondere Höhepunkte waren ein souveräner 6-0-Sieg gegen Ipswich auswärts und ein 4-0-Heimsieg über Newcastle, während deutliche Niederlagen gegen Tottenham (0-4) und Arsenal (1-5) das Jahr prägten. In der Champions League erreichte City mit elf Punkten aus acht Spielen nur Platz 22 der Ligaphase, in der der beste Torschütze acht Tore erzielte. Im FA Cup kam die Mannschaft bis ins Finale, unterlag dort aber Crystal Palace 0-1.
