Liverpool spielte 1995–96 unter Roy Evans auf Platz 3 der Premier League mit 71 Punkten. Robbie Fowler erzielte 28 Tore, Stan Collymore steuerte 14 Tore und 11 Vorlagen bei, Steve McManaman kam auf 15 Assists. Der Verein erreichte das FA-Cup-Finale, schied im Liga Cup im Achtelfinale und im UEFA Cup in der zweiten Runde aus.
