    With this home shirt prepared for Matias Palacios from FC Basel's 2020-22 seasons, you'll add a genuine collector's item to your wardrobe! The shirt comes directly from the club's dressing room and was prepared for a Super League match. Retroshirts' contact was employed at a Super League club and received this shirt, along with all his other shirts, personally from the players. The shirt has the features of a match shirt: the Super League patch on the left sleeve and the league sponsor on the right chest. It's unclear whether the shirt merely hung in the changing room as a spare or was actually worn in a match. Given the shirt's exceptionally good condition, we assume it was Palacios's spare shirt. Matias Palacios played for FC Basel from the 2020-21 season through the 2021-22 season. The attacking midfielder made 46 appearances, scoring three goals and providing ten assists. Since then, he has been playing in Saudi Arabia for Al-Ain FC.

      The story behind the shirt

      In the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, Arthur Cabral was the defining figure at FC Basel. In 2020/21, Basel finished second in the Swiss Super League under Ciriaco Sforza and later Patrick Rahmen, while Cabral scored 18 league goals. In the cup, the striker was even more productive with 20 goals, and he added two more in the Europa League. In the following season, 2021/22, under Patrick Rahmen and, from February, Guillermo Abascal, Basel once again finished second with 62 points from 36 games, with Cabral leading the way with 14 league goals. Flanked by Liam Millar (7 goals) and Valentin Stocker (6 goals, 7 assists), a productive attacking game took shape. Basel experienced its European high point that season: in the UEFA Europa Conference League, the team dominated its group unbeaten, with six games, four wins and two draws. Cabral scored 13 goals there, with Stocker adding four more. With wins over Partizani (3-0), Ujpest (4-0) and Qarabag (3-0), Basel showed real European class. A shirt from this season represents the golden Cabral era at FC Basel.
