The story behind the shirt

A shirt from the season in which Arsenal finished third in the Premier League. With 21 wins, seven draws and ten defeats from 38 matches, the team collected 70 points and scored 74 goals. Robin van Persie was the outstanding scorer with 30 league goals, followed by Theo Walcott with eight and Thomas Vermaelen with six. Under manager Arsène Wenger, Arsenal achieved some remarkable results: a 7-1 home win over Blackburn and a 4-0 away win at Wigan stood out, while the 2-8 defeat at Manchester United was especially painful. In the Champions League, Arsenal reached the round of 16, where they gave a strong response to AC Milan, losing 0-4 away but winning 3-0 at home. The Gunners were knocked out of the League Cup and the FA Cup, the latter after the quarter-final against Manchester City.
