The story behind the shirt

Everton gewann in der Saison 1995-96 unter Trainer Joe Royle den FA Charity Shield und trat in der Premier League mit einem starken Angriff um Andrei Kanchelskis (16 Tore) an. Das Team belegte Platz 6 in der Liga und nahm zudem am FA Cup, League Cup und UEFA Cup Winners' Cup teil. Ein Trikot dieser Saison steht für einen Titel und einen der prägendsten Angreifer im Everton-Sturm jener Jahre. Die Saison 1996-97 spielte Everton nach mehreren Trainerwechseln (Joe Royle bis März, danach Dave Watson, ab Juni Howard Kendall) in der Premier League und beendete diese auf Platz 15 mit 42 Punkten aus 38 Spielen. Duncan Ferguson war mit 10 Ligatoren Topscorer, gefolgt von Gary Speed mit 9 Treffern; Andy Hinchcliffe führte mit 7 Assists, Nick Barmby kam auf 6. Im FA Cup erreichte die Mannschaft das Viertelfinale, im League Cup die zweite Runde.
