The story behind the shirt

Worn in the season in which Chelsea finished sixth in the Premier League with 63 points. The league campaign showed two faces: impressive wins like the 6-0 against Everton and 5-0 against West Ham stood alongside heavy defeats, such as the 0-5 against Arsenal. With 77 goals the attack was productive, with Cole Palmer standing out as the key performer, scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists. Nicolas Jackson contributed 14 goals, João Félix netted 9. Chelsea also reached the semi-final of the FA Cup, but lost there to Manchester City 0-1. In the League Cup the team made it all the way to the final, losing there to Liverpool as well by 0-1 in a close match. Palmer also dominated in the cup competitions as both goalscorer and assist provider.
