Celtic gewann in der Saison 2007–08 souverän die schottische Premiership mit 89 Punkten und einem Torverhältnis von 58. Unter Trainer Gordon Strachan waren Scott McDonald mit 25 Toren und Aiden McGeady mit 17 Assists die treibenden Kräfte im Angriff, unterstützt von Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink mit 15 Treffern. Der Klub erreichte zudem das Sechzehntelfinale der UEFA Champions League und kam in beiden heimischen Pokalen bis ins Viertelfinale. Ein Trikot dieser Saison steht für eine der punktestärksten Meisterschaften der Celtic-Geschichte.
