With 114 goals in 38 games, the team showed real attacking strength, but conceded only 29 goals and finished second with 28 wins, 7 draws and 3 defeats. L. Messi dominated the scoring charts by a wide margin with 50 league goals, while A. Sánchez scored 11 and Xavier Hernández Creus added 9. In the Champions League, Barcelona reached the semi-final, where they lost to Chelsea following a 0-1 away defeat and a 2-2 home draw. During this European campaign, the team delivered some strong performances: a 3-1 home win over AC Milan in the quarter-final, a 3-1 away win against Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16, as well as impressive league results such as an 8-0 win over Osasuna and a 7-0 away win at Rayo Vallecano.
