    With this Home shirt of Werder Bremen from the 2012-13 season, prepared for Sokratis Papastathopoulos, you get a genuine collector's item for your wardrobe! The shirt comes directly from the dressing room and was prepared for a Bundesliga match. Our contact at Retroshirts was employed by a Super League club, had wide-ranging contacts with Swiss footballers, and through this received this shirt as well as all his other shirts personally from the players. With the Bundesliga patch, the ventilation holes on the sides, and the product information printed on the inside instead of a label, the shirt has the characteristics of a match shirt. It's unclear whether the shirt merely hung in the dressing room as a spare or was actually worn in a match. However, the shirt shows some signs of wear and stains. We therefore consider it likely that this shirt was used in a match. To preserve authenticity as well as possible, we do not wash such Player Issue & match shirts. The centre-back Sokratis, who comes from Greece, moved to Europe's top leagues via AEK Athens for the 2008-09 season and won the Italian championship with AC Milan in 2010-11. During this time, however, he only played in seven matches. He then moved to Werder Bremen, where he played for two seasons and made 61 appearances. From then on his career gained momentum, and Sokratis was able to move to Borussia Dortmund for the 2013-14 season, where he played 198 matches over five seasons, won the German Cup, and reached a market value of over 20 million euros. He was signed by Arsenal for the 2018-19 season. With the Gunners, he was able to win the FA Cup in the 2019-20 season, in which he played in five of six matches and scored one goal. His career in Europe's top leagues then gradually declined again. In the 2020-21 season, he returned to Greece to join Olympiacos Piraeus and won two consecutive championships. This led once more to a transfer, this time to Spain to join Real Betis, where he made 16 appearances in the 2023-24 season before ending his career.
