Galatasaray beendete die Saison 2016-17 in der Süper Lig auf Platz vier mit 64 Punkten aus 34 Spielen. Unter den Trainern Jan Olde Riekerink und später Igor Tudor prägten Wesley Sneijder mit 15 Assists sowie die Torschützen Bruma (11 Tore), Yasin Öztekin und Eren Derdiyok (je 10 Tore) die Kampagne. Im Pokal erreichte das Team die Zwischenrunde der Türkiye Kupasi.
