Young Boys beendeten die Saison 2021-22 in der Swiss Super League auf Platz 3. In der UEFA Champions League schieden sie in der Gruppenphase aus, mit fünf Punkten aus sechs Spielen (1 Sieg, 2 Unentschieden, 3 Niederlagen) und 7 Toren bei 12 Gegentoren. Jordan Pefok war mit 22 Ligatoren und 27 Toren im Swiss Cup der Topscorer des Klubs. In der Champions League trafen J. Siebatcheu fünfmal, V. Sierro dreimal und N. Moumi Ngamaleu zweimal, wobei Moumi Ngamaleu zudem vier Assists beisteuerte, M. Aebischer drei und M. Elia zwei. Anfang März übernahm Matteo Vanetta von David Wagner das Traineramt. Ein Spiel dieser Kampagne war die 1-4-Heimniederlage gegen Villarreal in der Gruppenphase.
