The story behind the shirt

Borussia Mönchengladbach etablierte sich in der Saison 2011/12 unter Topscorer Marco Reus mit 18 Toren als stabile Kraft der Bundesliga. Mit 17 Siegen, neun Unentschieden und acht Niederlagen erreichte der Verein 60 Punkte und Platz vier. Eindrucksvolle Siege prägten die Spielzeit, darunter das 5:0 gegen Werder Bremen sowie 3:0-Erfolge auswärts bei Köln, Stuttgart und Schalke und daheim gegen Schalke. Mike Hanke (8 Tore) und Juan Fernando Arango (6 Tore) verstärkten die Offensive, im DFB-Pokal steuerte Reus drei weitere Tore bei. In der Saison 2012/13 kam der Verein auf 47 Punkte aus 12 Siegen, 11 Unentschieden und 11 Niederlagen und belegte Platz acht, bei 45 erzielten und 49 Gegentoren. Luc de Jong und Philipp Herrmann trafen je sechsmal, Arango fünfmal. Der Verein zog zudem in die Champions League ein. Ein Trikot dieser Saison steht für den Höhenflug mit Marco Reus und den Einzug in den europäischen Wettbewerb.
