The story behind the shirt

Getragen in der Spielzeit, in der Boca Juniors an der Copa Libertadores teilnahm. In der Saison 2001-02 war das Team unter der Leitung von Carlos Bianchi (bis 20. Dezember 2001) und anschließend Oscar Tabarez in mehreren bedeutenden Wettbewerben aktiv. In der Copa Libertadores und der Copa Mercosur war Riquelme mit je 10 Toren der herausragende Torschütze. Auch im Intercontinental Cup und in der FIFA Club World Championship waren die Xeneizes vertreten, und Riquelme erzielte auch dort 10 Tore. In der Primera Division trug Riquelme mit 7 Toren in der Apertura zum Erfolg bei.
