      Benfica beendete die Saison 2020-21 unter Trainer Jorge Jesus mit Platz 3 in der Liga NOS und 76 Punkten. Haris Seferovic erzielte 22 Ligatreffer, Darwin Núñez steuerte zehn Vorlagen bei, Alejandro Grimaldo ebenfalls zehn Assists. In der UEFA Europa League beendete Benfica die Gruppenphase ungeschlagen als Gruppenzweiter, darunter Heimsiege von 3:0 gegen Standard Liège und 4:0 gegen Lech Poznan. Zudem erreichte der Klub das Finale der Taça de Portugal und des Portugiesischen Supercups.
