FC Sion 1996-97 home shirt title-winning season - L/S - #2 - 8/10 - [XL]

    The extremely rare, long-sleeved and classic Adidas piece from FC Sion's 1996-97 season recalls, on the one hand, the only double in the club's history and the most recent championship title the Sittener have managed to win to date. It thus represents an extremely successful era for the club, which makes this shirt an absolute collector's item. On the other hand, the shirt also tells the story of unsuccessful bids for the Winter Olympics. After the bid for the 2002 Winter Olympics lost out to Salt Lake City in 1995, Valais immediately put itself forward again for the 2006 Winter Olympics. This is immortalised in the large print on the back of this shirt. Unfortunately, this bid was also lost in 1999, this time to the Italian city of Turin. This caused quite a stir in Valais. The electorate clearly supported hosting the Winter Games, and the then Federal Councillor and head of the organising committee, Adolf Ogi, gave the bid a high profile. Most recently, the canton of Sion wanted to bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics, but this was then rejected by voters at the ballot box. A great collector's item featuring a notable piece of sporting history in two respects at once.
