Unione Sportiva Sassuolo Calcio was founded on 17 July 1920 in Sassuolo, a town in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. The club plays its home matches at the Mapei Stadium - Città del Tricolore, which holds around 21,500 spectators. The club colours black and green define the distinctive look of the shirts, which gave rise to the nickname "Neroverdi". In the 2010s, Sassuolo established itself as a permanent fixture in Serie A under the influence of the Mapei Group.
