Atlético Mineiro was founded on 25 March 1908 in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, and is one of Brazil's most tradition-rich football clubs. The club plays its home matches at the modern Arena MRV, which holds around 47,000 spectators. The club colours black and white define its distinctive look, which goes hand in hand with the nickname "Galo" - the rooster. Atlético Mineiro competes in the Série A, Brazil's top division, as well as in the Minas Gerais state championship.
