Liga Pro (Ecuador)

The Liga Pro, officially known as Serie A, is the top Ecuadorian football league and was founded in 1957. It is organised by the Liga Profesional del Fútbol del Ecuador and is affiliated with CONMEBOL. Sixteen clubs take part in the championship. Founding members included Aucas, Barcelona, Deportivo Quito and Emelec, with Emelec emerging as the league's first champion. Barcelona is the competition's record champion.
